Recent Acquisitions

Yes, it is true.  I am becoming one of those horrible people who post the contents of their latest JetPens orders on their blogs, just so all of their readers who have not just ordered some new pens from JetPens can turn green in envy.  In my defence, I had not ordered anything from JetPens in years, so I was absurdly excited to receive this order.  Maybe if JetPens extended their free shipping on orders over $25 to Canada as well as the United States I would place more orders?  However, I should say that the basic shipping to Canada only cost me $5, which is very reasonable, so I really shouldn't complain too much.

And here's what I got:

I'll leave you now to be as envious as you wish.  Reviews of these items will be appearing at irregular intervals throughout the coming weeks and months, although I have a couple of older pens to review first.  And I need to use these for a while before I start reviewing them.

Have you used any of these items?  And what have been your recent acquisitions, from JetPens or elsewhere?

  1. Great Items!! I have found that posts about items from JetPens are some of my most visited posts. People like them.

  2. Heather, if you have to be apologetic about blogging your JetPens orders then I have to be apologetic about loving them!

  3. Thanks for sharing Heather! I too am a JetPens junkie, I recently received my order that contained a Rhodia Webnotebook, Uniball Kuru Toga pencil, Pilot Multiball Pen, and a Pilot Acroball Pen! I love getting a package of new items to add to my collection! Can't wait for your reviews!

    1. That sounds like a great selection of items, Anonymous! The Rhodia Webnotebook in particular has been a favourite of mine for quite a while, so I don't think you'll be disappointed!

  4. I may not have used the same colors, but I have definitely used several of those products, and everything you selected is probably going to be enjoyable.

I will say that Field Notes doesn't play well with larger diameter liquid ink pens or fountain pens, but the small diameter pens work quite nicely in them.

Congrats on the fun JetPens pack. I look forward to seeing some reviews!

    1. Thanks for the tip about Field Notes, although since the finer-tipped pens are usually my pens of choice anyway, I don't foresee too many problems. At any rate, all shall be revealed when I get the review written!

  5. Anonymous -

That is a phenomenal line-up; everyone should try all 4 of those items. I just picked up a Multiball - what a great pen, right?

  6. Hey Heather!

I'm impressed that you've gone YEARS without a JetPens order.... is that even POSSIBLE?!?!
No for me.... I think the first step is to admit I have a problem...

I've never uses the Pentel Aquash, but if it's anything like the Niji waterbrush, you'll find it very handy. They are a terrific little carry tool, especially when you want to do a quick watercolor on the go. With a Cotman compact watercolor set and a Moleskine watercolor notebook you've got a great little travel set.

This is a link to a post where I mention them:

    Love your post/blog!

    Tom Lynch, NYC

    1. Thanks, Tom!
It was indeed getting into the years since my last order, but I don't think I'll go that long without an order next time! It is possible, but I don't recommend it. It wasn't pleasant.

I can't wait to really get into using my waterbrush, since I have been wanting to try one out for ages. I like the portable nature of it, since I often like to sketch outdoors. I haven't ventured into "real" watercolours yet, but I love using the watercolour pencils that I picked up a few years ago. Thanks for the link!

  7. hi Heather,
I too am impressed you can go years without a JetPen order - even if I'm also in Canada, I manage to rationalize the $5 shipping by making the order large enough to be worth it :)

of this order, I've only used the Signo White gel pen. Love it. By far it is the best one I've used against colour backgrounds and it shows up well against watercolor and acrylic. It stumbles a little against neocolor watercolor and some watercolor pencils, but it's still better than others. Looking forward to your reviews.

    1. Thanks for the comment, Sophie. I've put up with poorer quality white gel pens for years, so I thought it was finally time to try out this one since I've seen so many reviews that have lauded the Signo as the best white gel pen around. I'll probably be mostly using mine over different papers in collage and perhaps a bit on acrylics. I'd like to use it with my watercolour pencils as well, but I'll have to see how it goes.
